While cybersecurity threats started with the invention of the World Wide Web, the frequency and intensity of these threats increase exponentially each year. Major industries are forced to adapt or face failure, which may range from loss of revenue to loss of life. For healthcare, the Department of Health and Human Services is pushing for better patient access to electronic health records (arguably necessitated by California's Consumer Privacy Act) and better interoperability for medical IoTs. In the Chemical sector, the Government Accountability Office found that anti-terrorism security standards went without updates for 10 years, potentially leaving massive cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
